SCARECROW FAIR – 4th November 2017
The famous Scarecrow Fair is Scarecrows Big Day Out main event. Hundreds of people gather to enjoy the fair’s amazing stalls, buy bargain priced plants, eat gorgeous local food, jump on fun fair rides, participate in the hilarious country themed games and then finally grab a bargain in our amazing midday monster auction.
Interested in a stall? The fair is a great opportunity to sell your products alongside other top quality, handmade crafts and produce. Come along and be part of the unique country environment of our school (Please note: handcrafted products only).

SCARECROWS ON THE GOBBLER
Scarecrows on the Gobbler is back for 2017, so once you have visited the Scarecrow Fair, driven the scarecrow drive, then call into the Gobbler from 1.30-6pm at 1686 Longbush Rd, Gladstone. The Gobbler is a stunning six hole golf course developed by the Strang family. The Gobbler provides a magical setting for all of the, out of district scarecrow entries, from schools, kindy’s, business’s, organisations, families as well as individuals that may wish to participate in the scarecrow competition. ‘Scarecrows on the Gobbler’ is a gold coin entry and gorgeous food, wine, entertainment and activities will be available as you wander around the scarecrows.
The scarecrow competition is open not only to the Gladstone District but also to schools, kindy’s, businesses, organisations, and families that would like to make scarecrows to display in the district or at Scarecrows on the Gobbler. There are fantastic prizes up for grabs! This years theme is “Classic Sayings” (e.g. Rattle Your Dags, Don’t count your chickens before they hatch, Sparrows Fart). On November 1st pick up your Scarecrow map from the Wairarapa News. Scarecrow fanatics can use the scarecrow map to drive around the gorgeous Gladstone district, spotting scarecrows. This year, scarecrow spotters will need see if they can work out what ‘classic saying’ the scarecrow is representing. Once they have managed to work all the classic sayings, they can then submit their answers on the map to either the famous Scarecrow Fair at Gladstone School or down the road at Scarecrows on the Gobbler.
The scarecrow drive will focus on Gladstone, Admiral, Te Whiti and Longbush Roads.
SCARECROW SCAMPER FUN RUN
The Scamper is held normally held on the same day as the fair. This year unfortunately this year we are unable to run the Scarecrow Scamper, but do watch this space for a new and exciting running/ walking event in Gladstone in 2018.
